When the Faculty of Engineering was established, among other faculties in
Amman University, in 1991, it was believed that it will add value in terms of
achieving the objectives of the university and fulfill its mission. However, the
success achieved by the Faculty of Engineering has surpassed all expectations,
especially in the last recent years.
The Faculty of Engineering has succeeded in attracting more students from
Jordan and abroad; some of which are of excellent academic standing. Moreover,
it has also succeeded in attracting good faculty members. As a matter of fact both
success factors (more students and higher caliber faculty members) are cause and
effect to each other simultaneously.
The Faculty of Engineering has always believed, and will always continue to
believe, in the importance of two strategic issues; namely the relevance and
quality of graduating students
. The first strategic issue is adequately
addressed through selecting specializations, which are in demand by the labor market.
Therefore, the faculty now has three specializations:
- Communication and Electronics Engineering.
- Computer Engineering.
- Biomedical Engineering.
Furthermore, the Faculty is considering adding one or more new specializations
in the near future, and at the same time is constantly reviving and updating the
course structure and course contents to reflect changes and new developments in
engineering sciences and technology. As for the quality of graduates the faculty members appreciate the need to
assist the students in becoming better engineers and they do not reserve any
effort to do that. The reputation of our faculty graduates is a true attestation
to the high quality.
There is no doubt, in any mind, that the faculty of engineering is in the
right course. This is partly due to the wide support the faculty is getting from
university administration.Without this support and encouragement the situation would not have been the
way it is now. At Amman University Faculties and administration work as one
team.
