The Faculty
The Faculty of engineering was established in 1991 at
Amman University with one department, namely, the Department of Electrical
Engineering. This department offers the degree of Bachelor of Science in three areas of specialization.
The Faculty has well equipped laboratories including Electric circuits lab., Electronics
& Digital electronics lab. Digital system lab. Instrumentation & measurement lab. Electric
machines lab. Power & power electronics lab. Control lab. Analogue, Digital communication
& Microwave labs, Microprocessor lab. and an Advanced lab. for research and student
projects. These labs have been supplied by very well known international companies.
Currently, two Biomedical Engineering labs. are equipped for the new Biomedical Engineering
degree introduced in the year 2000.

Facilities
The Faculty of Engineering has powerful and advanced computing facilities
comprising two computer labs. The Main Computer lab. is equipped with Pentium 4 PCs with full
multimedia capabilities including DVDs. The Personal Computers lab. is also equipped with Pentium 4
Pc's. This is in addition to the computers in the offices of all faculty members. All computers
are connected as past of a network within each lab. and all together as a wider network connecting
all computers to the internet. These labs are provided with up-to-date software needed by both students
and faculty members to undertake problem solutions, projects and research. Access to the
Internet in available with high speed E1 2Mbps link. |

Departments and Specializations
|
The three Departments of Electrical Engineering
offers an academic program leading to the Bachelor's degree in three specializations.
The program of Computer Engineering aims to offer quality engineering education
to its graduates with sufficient expertise in both hardware and software aspects
of computers, while the aim of the Electronic and Communication Engineering program
is to do the same to graduate engineers with expertise in the areas of applied electronics
and the theory of Communication Engineering and its realization in practical situations.
Likewise, the program for Biomedical Engineering, is designed to meet a growing need in
the area of Biomedical technologies (Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI, Scanners, Ulrasound,
Medical Instrumentation, Biomedical Signal and Image Processing).
All three programs cover academic material which include the necessary background in electrical
engineering, specialization-oriented courses, a final year graduation project and field training
as essential degree requirements.
