written in either Arabic or English. Papers submitted for publication in AL-BALQA' should not he submitted for
publication elsewhere; the author is requested to include a statement to
this effect in his letter of submission. The research topics are:

Instructions for Authors:
1 - Authors should submit three copies of the paper, typed double-spaced
on only one side of the paper. Papers should be no more than 30 pages (7500
words, font size 13) in length. Authors should include their names (first
name, middle initial, and last name of all authors) and their current address
for correspondence.
2 - An abstract in both Arabic and English (not to exceed 200 words)
should be included.
3 - Papers should be arranged in sections each of which should begin
in a new page as follows: title page abstract, introduction, materials,
methods, results, discussion, figures, tables, and legends for illustrations.
Abbreviations should he spelt out when first used in the text. The international
system of units and standard abbreviations should he used.
4 - Figures and tables are to be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals,
and each one be given a descriptive legend. Words to he printed in italics
are to be underlined once (e.g. titles of books and periodicals, transliterations).
5 - References should he numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals,
typed with double spacing at the bottom of the page. The following format
should be used:
a - jouranlss. Barnett, RD, ADAJ, 1951. 34-36.
b - Books. Fisher, WB, The middle East, 3rd edn. 1 London: Methuen,
1957:32 .
c - Chapter in a book. Watson, W. "The City in Ancient China"
ln: Moorey, PRS, ed., The Origins of civilization, Oxford. Clarendon press,
1979: 45-76.
6 - The Editorial Board reserves the right to make changes
Whether Stylistic and/ or grammatical and delete and rewrite sentences
and Paragraphs of the paper as deemed necessary.
7 - Authors will be sent one copy of the volume in which their work
appears and 8 off-prints free of charge.
8 - Papers intended for publication and all other correspondence concerning
